Her energy and passion for what she is doing is inspirational. People can’t help but be attracted to her and the charity.
In 2006 as a fund raiser, she self-published her first book “Strong Angels” which reflects her visit to Bali and how she began a life-long commitment to Bali and its people.

In 2010 she was the Zonta International Woman of Achievement award winner.

In 2019 she was recognised as part of 100 “Women – Celebrating achievements of women in the Southwest” sponsored by Zonta and Southwestern Times.

Bali Liaison Manager - Dewa Gede Partha

Dewa Gede Partha who likes to be known as Frank is our Balinese manager. He was born in village of Madangan. During his childhood he spent two hours a day walking to and from school. He needed to live with his sister on island of Sumbawa during his teenage years as parents couldn’t support him. After he finished school he returned to Bali worked at a variety of jobs then was able to save sufficient money to buy an apprenticeship as a fireman at the airport. He also supplements his income with taxi driving and this is where he met Susanne when she was holidaying with her family in 1992.

This generous, caring, selfless spirit which he displayed in 2004 continues today. In 2010 when Don Martin and Susanne approached him and his wife Tirta to manage our hostel, they felt it was a privilege and honoured to take on this important voluntary role.

Since Tirta's death we have been extremely fortunate that her daughters Krisna and Partiwi have stepped in to provide support to their father Frank so they can continue the great work of their beautiful mother Tirta to support, guide and mentor our hostel students.
Without Frank, Krisna and Partiwi generous ongoing support, we could not do our work in Bali.
